Mikkel Michelsen

Michelsen was crowned Speedway European Championship winner in 2019 after taking the chequered flag in a nail-biting run-off for the title with Russian star Grigorii Laguta – SGP regular Artem’s elder brother. Michelsen initially missed out on a full place in SGP 2020, but after being named as second reserve and then first stand-in when Greg Hancock retired, the Dane was promoted into the full line-up when Martin Smolinski's season was ended by injury. He is one of the sport’s most-improved stars in recent years and has established himself as a top performer for Lublin in the PGE Ekstraliga. After reaching the Scandinavian SGP semi-finals in Malilla last season, Michelsen will determined to take his chance to shine in 2020.
