GORZOW KEEP TOP GUN IVERSEN

Niels-Kristian Iversen has signed a new deal with Polish Ekstraliga giants Gorzow, but Tomasz Gollob’s future remains undecided.

Danish international Niels-Kristian Iversen has signed a new deal with Polish Ekstraliga giants Gorzow, but Tomasz Gollob’s future at the Edward Jancarz Stadium still hangs in the balance.

The GP Challenge bronze medallist led the club into the play-off final, where they were unable to defeat table-topping Tarnow.

Iversen joined the club in 2011 after struggling to break into the side at arch-rivals Zielona Gora. But it was no surprise that he was the first name on the Gorzow team sheet for next year after enjoying the season of his life this term.

He came to us as an unwanted rider. It was here that he restored his form, was one of the league's best riders, and finally, in Gorzow colours, managed to qualify for the Grand Prix.

Ireneusz Maciej Zmora

Club boss Ireneusz Maciej Zmora told Sportowefakty.pl: “Niels-Kristian Iversen was our best rider last season. He won a total of more than 240 bonus points and an average of over 12 points.

“He came to us as an unwanted rider. It was here that he restored his form, was one of the league's best riders, and finally, in Gorzow colours, managed to qualify for the Grand Prix.

“He feels very good at Gorzow, leads the team well and has a very good understanding with the riders and coach. That's why we decided to start our team building with him for next season.”

Ekstraliga bosses are still finalising the team-building rules for 2013 and Gorzow do not plan to make anymore signings until the point limit is set.

But talks are set to take place between the club’s honorary president Wladyslaw Komarnicki and Gollob next Thursday.

Zmora added: “When it comes to the contract with Tomasz Gollob, the honorary president of the club asked to lead the talks. His meeting with Tomasz Gollob is scheduled for next Thursday. After that, we'll know more about the future of our captain.”
